OAK METAL CLUB (OMC)

The club was formed in 2012 by Jostein Sandaker, Jan Kåre Bergo and Terje Johansen. Under an OAK and over some pints of cold Heineken beer in Amsterdam, they decided to start their own club for metal fans in their local community Fosser, which is situated in Aurskog-Høland, Norway.

The first event was Oak Metal Fest, a concert with the Norwegian metal band Djerv in 2012. Jostein and his daughter had just sold their old house and had plans to "rock out" their former residence, but due to delays they choose to arrange a "rock in" concert for their new home instead. This first concert was their own crazy stunt, and was funded on a private budget. In 2013 Oak Metal Club was formally established as an official, registered metal club.

Since 2012 a lot of time has gone into creating and decorating the club headquarters. In Jostein's private house, the entire basement has been converted into a metal pub solely for the use of the members of Oak Metal Club, as well as the bands performing at the club. The latest addition, which was completed in November 2014, is a larger stage better suitable for live bands and artists in the garage: Oak Garage. Oak Garage is a 107m² concert hall with a maximum capacity of 168 people.

Oak Metal Club now consists of 118 official members, many of which volunteer their personal time for the club to be able to arrange concerts. The club's Facebook page have more than 2200 followers, and all of them are people that have either asked to join themselves or been suggested by other members and followers of the club and then been approved. Our Facebook page consist solely of followers either truly dedicated to metal, or people with a strong general interest in metal and the events the club arrange.
